PC Version available in the UK 31/08/2007.
Be interesting to see what system requirements are in real life... as appose to the usual "minimum required" which are always un-playable.
Minimum graphics card specs are 6600GT and ATI X1300Pro.
Both of those cards have 'shader 3' capabilities which is where some of the older cards although still highly specced will fall over.
The suggested processors required are a min of P4 2.8 or AMD XP2800...
Interesting to see they have changed the engine as well, Running Unreal 3.0 instead of the tired Quake engine.
Im hoping this one will make up for the abomination that was Pacific Assault....
As far as putting it up on the server... It may alienate many members/users who have aging systems.
Although if the game is good.. would be excellent, I see they have revived Destroyed Village for the multiplayer campaign.

We'll have to wait and see if they produce a server version for Linux. That never happened with Breakthrough so they may wait and see how well this new one takes off.

Hi,
You score both your points as BT & the Linux matter.
Celticsun & Dai_Nasty
Still..........
I'm gonna buy and play at least the Single Player mode.
Have you seen that map Algiers, and the other goodies like Berlin?????
Even that alone is worth the coins :)
Pacific Assault.
I still play it sometimes online.
There's some great servers that are setup for sneak snipe.
No running orjumping there, you would be kicked for it.
It has some wonderfull large good looking realistic maps.
Breakthrough
I hosted, played a server for a while.
In my opinion it was the lack of good and proper modding tools.
That let the players community down. :(
Though I must admit connection problems were an initial problem.
I hope to shoot you both soon, you nasty Brits.

Done a little checking about...
Seems the official blurb is that a Linux version of the dedicated server will not be available at point of release.
However other things that make me wonder is a quote from Patrick Gilmore VP of EA..
'The fact that we are using Unreal III engine means that we have a lot of built-in mod functionality. And we want to take it even further, and open up the game set for people who mod, add on cool things.'
Also the inclusion of its own Multiplayer online anti-cheat (probably something similair to Punk-Buster, not something previously seen incorporated with MOH series) makes me believe they would be daft not to include a Server Based version not long after release.

I can't believe that it would be that complicated to produce a Linux version of the serverside program. Surely any developer with half a brain would be aware how many game servers are Linux-based, and would therefore develop the program in a language that could be compiled easily for Windows or Linux.
If you're producing a game that is essentially multiplayer you would be shooting yourself in the foot to take any other route.
Agreed about the Linux thing. It's bonkers not to have a dedicated Linux version, considering how many servers are Linux based :(
One other point I found out recently is that Multiplayer will only support up to 12 players. I suppose that's not the end of the world for it tho, as I've had plenty manic fun playing 6 vs 6 before :NW_yes:
Medal of Honor Airborne Minimum Specs Revealed
Tuesday, 10 July 2007
Image
The minimum specs for Airborne have been revealed, they are:
Operating System:
Windows XP SP2
Processor:
2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Memory :
1GB RAM
Video Card :
NVIDIA Geforce 6600GT or ATI Radeon X1300PRO
(Some slower GPUs with higher model number's also not recommended.)
Video Card Memory:
128MB RAM
Operating System:
Windows Vista
Processor:
3.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 3800+
Memory :
1GB RAM
Video Card :
NVIDIA Geforce 6600GT or ATI Radeon X1300PRO
(Some slower GPUs with higher model number's also not recommended.)
Video Card Memory:

Recommended Specs

The single player is ok , but the MP is superb. The maps are excellent and the gameplay is like the old MOHAA. You have to register to play on-line, so copies are no good. The single player will work, but no internet connection to the EA servers.
I have
320 Mb Nvidia 8800 GTS Over Clocked
2 Gig 800Hz Ram
6700 Dual Core Pentium
And it runs great with everything on high.

Erm, Kingston Ram (one of) guaranteed for life
400 Gig HDD Western Digital
Antec Power supplies..... well I disagree totally with you here. Virtually all power supplies are rated to max peak. So an average power supply rated at 450 would mean it peaks at 450 but runs smoothly at much less. An Antec 450 would be the equivalent of a 520W and being Antec I would trust it far more than any others, even thermcraptake.
Antec cases are renown for their near perfect ventilation and cooling efficiency, so no probs there!
I bought some cheap memory a while back (can't remember what it was though) and had no end of trouble with it, random reboots/crashes etc. It turned out that it was incompatable with some chipsets so I ended up getting it swapped for Corsair which also has a lifetime warranty, and have had no problems since then. It wasn't that much more expensive in the long run either, so I have learned my lesson with cheap components.
